Technique Tuesday: Ways to Make Things Pop

We are starting something new at Simply Be Inspired.  We want to give you some helpful tips and tricks to use when scrapping, making cards or any other type of paper craft you may be working on.  We are calling it Technique Tuesday!  Check back every Tuesday and we will have something "new" for you to try.  Really we are going to share ideas and little ticks that we think make our work look better.  Feel free to comment and tell us if there is something you'd like to see us share.

Today's technique is: Ways to make things pop!

1.  Pop Dots - Pop Dots are used to make something sit higher on the paper than other items.  We do this a lot with card stock we stamped on.  There are many different types of Pop Dots you can choose from.  We have tried a lot of different ones.  Here's just one example.

The stars are popped up off the blue box to add depth.
2. Inking the Edges - Inking the edges of your cardstock and scrapbook paper will make them stound out on your layouts or homemade cards.  The ink adds just a hint of color around the edges (as thin or wide as you want it)

How to:  Hold the ink pad or finger sponge at a right angle to the paper and slide or dab the ink down the edge of your paper.  Depending on how much you tilt the ink pad or finger sponge will determine how much ink shows on the edges of your paper.

For this invitation: we inked the edge of the circle die cut.
3.  Layering - This technique adds texture, dimension, and visual interest.  It helps draw the eye to what you feel is more important on your scrapbook page or card.

Lisa used a thin layer of purple to make the picture stand out visually.
Then, she used the green to add dimension to the picture by making
it look like it pops up off the scallop.
Lisa layered different scallops in two different colors to
draw your eye to the picture.

We hope you find these little tips helpful for your crafting projects.  If you already knew these tips, just enjoy the cute pictures of Adalyn then.  :)

Happy Crafting! Lisa and Jess
